Udayakumar, born in the village of Kadapoor in Kottayam District, holds a Diploma in Painting from Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Mavelikara. Udayan achieved fame as a painter, designer and illustrator. He worked as artist and illustrator in Vanitha, Balarama and Dailies viz. Deepika and Express.
Engaged on the works of Malayala Manorama Daily.His cover designs are enormously popular. He has designed covers for more than one thousand books of prestigious publishers like DC Books, Prabhat Book House, Current Books, Sahithya Pravarthaka Sahakarana Sangham, Sahithya Academy, Kerala Balasahitya Institute, Kerala Saksharatha Samithi, Book Digest and M.G. University. He is the recipient of the NCERT National Award ( for cover design and illustration); and the Bhima Balasahitya Award (for cover design and illustration). He is equally facile in oil acrylic and water colour. |
